FIVB removes Russia as the Host of the 2022 Men’s World Volleyball Championships

Following the examples by other Sports Organizations, such as the IOC – 2024 Summer Olympics, the Formula 1, and the National Hockey League, FIVB – the decided against Russia hosting the Men’s World Volleyball Championships later this year.

Scheduled to be held in August through September, FIVB announced Russia’s cancellation because “they were gravelly concerned about the escalating situation and concerned for the safety of the Ukrainian people.”

FIVB is currently seeking an alternate host country in which the players, coaches, officials, and fans feel safe.

International organizations are outraged because of Russia’s unwarranted invasion and attack of Ukraine. It is still unclear how many Ukrainians have died in the six day long war.
