Formula 1 and the FIA issued a statement earlier today stating that, “…including the view of all the relevant stakehoders, that it is impossible to hold the Russian Grand Prix in the current circumstances.”
The race, which was scheduled to be held in Sochi, Russia on September 25, 2022 has not been resecheduled yet. Formula 1 cancelled the Russian race because of the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The international sporting community is standing together in protest of the Russian led war against Ukraine. Formula 1 went to to say, “We are watching the developments in Ukraine with sadness and shock.”
More sports organizers are expected to cancel events they planned to hold in Russia.
