Finland is the happiest nation in the world according to the recently published The 2023 World Happiness Report. Academics interviewed 100,000 people from 137 different countries to find out about the levels of altruism, trust, and social connections. The study suggests that acts of kindness have increased since the pandemic and despite global conflict.

The secrets to a good life might be satisfying relationships and physical exercise. Two separate studies, one conducted in Australia and the other in the UK, found that healthy and satisfying relationships could deter the development of long-term conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer. The second study concluded the longer one stays physically active, the better the brain functions into old-age.

Tadasana, or Mountain Pose, is a basic pose but more difficult than you can imagine. Begin with your feet firmly on the ground. Lift and spread your toes to activate your arches. Co-founder of Airbnb, Joe Gebbia, donated U$D 25 million to the nonprofit, The Ocean Cleanup. The Ocean Cleanup will deploy the largest plastic cleanup system to ever be used in any ocean. The pilot system was deployed in 2021 at the GPGP (Great Pacific Garbage Patch) located in the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and California. So far, the system has removed 440,000 pounds of plastic. The new system will remove more plastic and work 24/7.

Researchers in Norway have found encouraging connections between cold water swimming and better health. Taking the cold plunge may help to lower the risk of some diseases. Cold water or air stimulates adipose tissue that produces the protein adiponectin. It protects against insulin resistance, diabetes and other diseases. Cold water swimming should be eased into slowly as there are some health risks such as shock and hypothermia.

Techlit Africa is an NGO that takes old computer laptops, refurbishes them, then donates the computers to children in Kenya. Nelly Cheboi, the founder, studied computer science in the U.S. Forbes placed Cheboi on their 30 under 30 list for her work and positive social impact.

The Great Bubble Barrier was developed by surfers and sailors to rid the world's waterways of plastic. The Dutch start-up uses bubbles that are pushed through a tube placed on the bottom of the waterway.
