SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Deep within the hallowed halls of that bastion of American democracy known as the Capitol Building, George Santos, aka Anthony Devolder, may have played, or tried to play, hanky panky with a male who worked in his office.
On Friday, Derek Myers posted a tweet alleging that Santos, the Freshman lawmaker from New York sexually assaulted him on January 25, 2023 in Santos’s office. Myers, said he also filed a police report with the U.S. Capitol Police, saying that Santos put his hand on his leg and grabbed his groin.
Myers further alleged that Santos asked him if he, Myers, had a social media account with Grindr.com, the social media platform that is popular with gay, Bi, trans, and queer people.
Before the alleged assault occurred, Myers applied for a job in Santos’s office and completed the employment paperwork for the position of “legislative correspondent”, and “staff assistant”. Myers believed he had the job and even went to work while the on-boarding employment paperwork was being processed.
Between the end of January and February 3, 2023, Santos’s office decided to rescind their offer and retracted their offer of employment on February 1, 2023. This was after personnel in Santos’s office asked Myers about his past history as a journalist.
The Santos Office did not respond to our inquiries about the allegations.
