SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Nikki Haley has experience in politics domestically and internationally. She was the Governor of South Carolina from 2011 until 2017. In 2017, Haley joined Donald J. Trump’s team and served as the 29th. United States Ambassador to the United Nations.
Haley is reportedly going to announce her bid for the presidency on February 15 while she is in Charleston, South Carolina. Haley’s aides spoke to USA Today under the condition of anonymity but shared that Haley is busy putting together the announcement.
Haley has an interesting backstory. She is the daughter of Indian immigrants and describes herself as the embodiment of the American Dream. She graduated from Clemson, worked in the corporate world, and then went into the family business before entering politics.
As potentially the first person to run against former President Donald J. Trump, Haley will probably be the first person in line to receive the former president’s ire. The former president, has been known to call people he doesn’t like names, ridicule them, belittle them and otherwise try to embarrass them in the media.
