Kyushu Jangara, the Perfect ramen

Last updated on January 26, 2023

TOKYO, Japan – The ramen boom started 20 years ago and has spread across the world. There are several types of ramen: miso, shoyu, and tonkotsu. While it is possible to enjoy all three, the real aficionados love tonkotsu.

Tokotsu soup is a pork based broth that is cooked for hours – if not days. The soup, not for the weak at heart, is made from pork bones, chicken bones, carrots, onions, and other vegetables. After cooking these ingredients together for several hours, the broth is strained to remove the unwanted portions.

Tokotsu ramen is usually served with a boiled egg, pork belly, fresh garlic, spicy cod roe, and a slice or two of seaweed. Unfortunately, it is very difficult – almost impossible – to find a great ramen in the UK, Germany, Holland, or the US.

The best ramen is at a place called Kyusu Jangara Ramen. They have shops throughout Tokyo area including Harajuku, Akihabara, and Ginza. The weather in the Tokyo area is really cold at the moment and ramen is the best food to eat when you’re out and about braving the winter weather.
